In Depth of an International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme Candidate
Perspective of an International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme Candidate / 2019
I'm 17 years of youth and being in the Career Related Program is actually really beneficial, there is constantly opportunities to achieve greatness and to lead you a good path for success. My previous years I never felt like I was getting anywhere in high school, through this program I've learned a lot about IB. Though I may struggle at times, I always remind myself that everything that I achieve gives me a reason to keep going in life. Before the beginning of my junior year I absolutely hated school nothing interested me until I was able to gain the opportunity of being in the program. Before this I was hanging out with a lot of unmotivated people who didn't seem like they wanted to get anywhere in their life, I realized I needed to reflect more and ask myself what am I doing? This is my life not yours. I'm a health science student and I've seen stuff that I had no previous knowledge about before. One of the coolest trips was when we went to the Science Museum or when we did a gross anatomy field trip at Marquette. Basically before my junior year I knew absolutely nothing about health science. In anatomy we have done a lot of hands on stuff such as dissections. We went to discovery world once and dissected a fish and at the Science Museum we did a lab with asthma and learned how that works. I believe that the work we get assigned isn't bad as long as you don't procrastinate. If you procrastinate on something it doesn't mean anything to you, that is just a fact because if it actually did mean something to you, you would get it done right away.
Open-Minded, Reflective and Risk Taker” Being a Risk-Taker in my opinion can be a frightful challenge but a true risk-taker does not listen to the critics who never even attempted it. The Risk-Taker defeats the barriers that was blocking them from living their best life. If you let fear distract you, think of all the missed opportunities that you couldn't gain because of fear. If you do become a Risk-Taker think of all the opportunities you have gained from overcoming fear.

Picking up three of the International Baccalaureate learner profiles has helped me become more confident in school. With having the attribute of being Open-Minded, my moral is that I don't care what your rep is, if your nice to me I'll be nice back to you. To have this moral is very important to me because we've all had mistakes or bad pasts but there is always time to invest in you and make yourself grow to become a better person. I want to support everyone who supports me, many people look up to false prophets but one thing we have to realize is we can't keep having our goal be "I'm going to become the next _____". We have to start believing in ourselves and stop manifesting idols who don't do good to this planet. I'm constantly being reflective by how I can become a better person and how I can change the world. One thing I will never support is false representations of people, just be you.

One of the most important qualities is being Reflective, imagine being so bitter you don't even see your own blessings? Being reflective to me, means I have made bad mistakes and I have improved from my past to become a better me. That is what being reflective means to me knowing how to improve for the better and how I can make a change to the world. To constantly be educating myself is an important factor. Reflective is the key of self growth.
About Me: I love nature and making the world a better place. I also love to spread kindness to everyone because I've been there before where people sometimes aren't always the nicest. Also for my service learning I help run a girls skateboard club and a few girls and I holding a Girls Skate Jam in Chicago in June, We already have 4 sponsors for the event were still working on more, we love to promote Midwest Female Shredders.

How my Personal and Professional Skills Class Helped Me GrowKnowledge I've gained is definitely the business aspect of a class I'm enrolled in at Ronald Reagan High School, Personal and Professional Skills class. With this class I've learned how to talk to adults professionally and make business moves. Being professional is a skill I lack but this class has helped me become more mature. It has helped me reach out to different businesses. Also I've learned to keep on going even when I mess up. My vocabulary has definitely improved, sometimes I would stutter or mess up on words that I wasn't able to pronounce but from doing presentations in the class my social skills got better and my speech.
